Butterflies & Beauty

Golly - it's been a long time since I've put anything on here. Just don't have much time these days. Between running the business, gardening on weekends, maintaining 2 homes and starting a new company, there is not a moment to spare.

But, I did take time while gardening to take some pictures of some of my favorite creatures. We have tried to create a haven for butterflies and birds and it seems to be working. Many varieties of butterflies seem to be attracted to our yard now. Sometimes there are literally hundreds of them on the Vitex blooms.

Enjoy!!

Graduation!!

Our only child, Sara, graduated from college in December! WOW! She did an awesome job - graduating in 3-1/2 years and with honors! We are very proud of her. GO SARA!

Life

I lost my mother at the end of January. Our relationship was not what most would consider typical of mother and daughter. I still mourn what will never be and the words I can no longer hope to hear from her. But, someday I will meet my mother again. She will be beautifully transformed and her love will be perfect.

I wrote this short poem thinking of her death. I may add to it later, but for now I can't.

Life Emerges copyright 2007

Dead limbs fall to earth, unhurriedly turning to living soil
Brittle brown now soft green
Rigidity transforms into gentle lushness
Harshness no longer, but calmness granted by soothing hues

Just as Winter harshly slays what once was full of promise,
Spring emerges with budding hope freshly alive
That which was buried springs forth into the light
Darkness dissipates, gardens bloom
Fruitful gifts abound
